manimahesh yatra

Yatra Significance:
Manimahesh Lake (also known as Dal Lake, Manimahesh), situated in the Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas, is a high altitude lake (el. 4080 m.). The Manimahesh Kailash peak that stands high close to the lake is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva (Hindu deity). This place is believed to be second to the Lake Manasarovar in its religious significance. The route to Manimahesh is via Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, Bharmour and Hadsar. Motorable road goes till Hadsar. The rest of the path is to be covered on foot, about 13 km of steep climb by the banks of Manimahesh Ganga, which originates from the Manimahesh Kailash peak.
Yatra Season : The annual pilgrimage is in the month of August – September
Manimahesh Yatra Route & Map :Starting point of Manimahesh Yatra is Pathankot / Chakki Bank Railway Ahead or Pathankot/ Gaggal Airport. one shall reach there and the onwards journey is described as under. For Trekkers
Arrive at Pathankot/Chakki Bank/ Gaggal shall continue journey for Chamba Himachal Pradesh, Overnight stay at Chamba. Next Morning shall early leave for Hadsar, 14kms ahead from Bharmour and then start onwards trekking journey of 14kms from hadsar.
Night stay at Manimahesh lake or Gauri Kund and then after a holy dip and Darshan shall back journey to Hadsar were you will get the transportation and then way back to Chamba for the Night stay. After Breakfast shall on depart for Pathankot/ Chakki Bank/ Gaggal Airport for the way back home. If you are good trekker then minimum 4 days required if not a good trekker then 5 days minimum required.
